Configure and Manage an Organization License

A license to an Organization is required to access and configure the Organization for network management. This release of OmniVista Cirrus R10 offers a Trial license that provides a period of 90 days to evaluate and utilize OmniVista R10 features (additional time and number of devices can be requested). You can then upgrade from the free trial version to a paid licensed version of OmniVista Cirrus.

In OmniVista Cirrus R10, there will be only one Network Management license regardless of the device models to be managed. You are permitted to manage up to the maximum number of devices allowed for that license.

The License Management screen displays information for the Organization’s OmniVista Cirrus License. Licensing is based on the license purchased as part of a customer subscription. A user is allowed to manage up to the maximum number of devices allowed for that license for the length of the subscription contract.

There are two ways to access the License Management screen for the current Organization:

The License Management screen provides an overview of the licenses purchased and activated by the user, including the start and end dates for the license as well as the number of devices that can be managed with the current license.

A device can be licensed for features other than Management or Upgrade features. The two types of additional feature licenses are as follows.

  • Essentials - The default license for the device that licenses the use of basic features.

  • Advanced - The basic features license plus the Data Center and 10G feature licenses

You can also click on the Request an Update button to request an extension of the license period and make changes to the number of devices that can be managed.

The “Progress” line on this screen indicates the number of days left before the license expires. If the Organization license does expire, you can renew the expired license. Note that there is a fixed 90-day Grace Period after the license expires during which users can still access the account and all network management data is retained. If the license is not renewed before the Grace Period ends, account access and data may not be retained.
