Device Prerequisites

The device prerequisites provided in this section apply to the following devices:

  • Access Points that are fully managed by OmniVista Terra.

  • AOS Switches that are fully managed by OmniVista Terra.

The minimum device software versions for onboarding and management are detailed below.

Onboarding

For onboarding (call home and connection to OmniVista Terra), devices must be running the following minimum software versions:

  • AOS 8.9R4 - If the AOS device is running a software version less than 8.9R4, you must manually upgrade the device to 8.9R4 (or higher) when the device is added to the Device Catalog.

  • AWOS 5.0.3 - If the AWOS device is running a software version less than 5.0.3, you must manually upgrade the device to 5.0.3 when the device is added to the Device Catalog.

Notes:

  • There are configuration steps that must be completed to onboard devices. See the OmniVista Terra Installation Guide and the Onboarding Devices for OmniVista Terra Management online help for more information.

  • When a switch running AOS 8.10.R1 GA boots up without a vcboot.cfg file for auto-configuration, the SSH is disabled by default causing provisioning to fail. Only the console is enabled. This is not limited to a particular platform and can be seen on any switch running AOS 8.10.R1. To workaround this issue, you can do one of the following:

    • Enable AAA authentication SSH on the 8.10R1 GA switch via the CLI.

    • Upgrade to AOS 8.10R1 MR1 or AOS 8.10R2 (or higher) release, which include a fix for this problem.

Devices must be running the software versions specified to support all of the features available in OmniVista Terra.
