Log Retention Policy

For each device declared in OmniVista Network Advisor, the syslog messages are stored at:
/opt/Alcatel-Lucent_Enterprise/NetworkAdvisor/netadv/na-rsyslog-logs/netadv/devices

For each device Network Advisor will:

1. Keep 10 files of 50MB.

2. Once the current file reaches 50MB it is closed and compressed (approximately 1.6MB per compressed file) into a .gz file and stored until the limit of 10 files is reached.

3. Once the limit of 10 files is reached, the oldest file is deleted and a new file is created.

With this file sized based policy Network Advisor will store approximately 10 to 15 days of logs depending on equipment and log level.

Note that a switch with a DEBUG log level could reach these file size limits in only a few hours.
