Log Retention Policy

For each device declared in OmniVista Network Advisor, the syslog messages are stored at:
/opt/Alcatel-Lucent_Enterprise/NetworkAdvisor/netadv/na-rsyslog-logs/netadv/devices

For each device Network Advisor will:

1. Keep 10 files of 50MB.

2. Once the current file reaches 50MB it is compressed into a .gz file and kept until the limit of 10 files is reached.

3. Once the limit of 10 files is reached, the oldest file is deleted and a new file is created.

With this file sized based policy Network Advisor will store 500MB of logs in total which is approximately 10 to 15 days of logs depending on equipment and log level.

Note that a switch with a DEBUG log level could reach the 500MB limit in only a few hours.
