The Client Session History Dashboard consists of three sections: Client Session History, Client Session Distribution, and Client Session Trend. To access the Client Session History Dashboard, click on Network > Analytics > Client Session History under the “Monitor” section of the OmniVista Cirrus Menu.
Client Session History
The Client Session History section provides a history of client sessions that were associated with one of the managed Access Points.
Scroll left to right to view session attribute values or click on the icon under the “Actions” column to view all the attribute values in one place.
For each historical client session, the following attribute values are provided:
Device Name - The client Device Name
Client MAC - The MAC Address of the client
Client MAC Type - The MAC address type: Private or Universal.
Private - The device MAC address starts with x2, x6, xA, or xE (e.g., 92:c3:07:a2:8a:61). This is usually a locally administered MAC address.
Universal - The device MAC address is a unique address assigned by the manufacturer.
Client IPv4 Address - The IPv4 address of the client, if applicable.
Client IPv6 Address - The IPv6 address of the client, if applicable.
Device Type - If determined, the Device Type of the client. (e.g: Mobile, Computer, ...)
Session Duration - The length of time during which the Session was active
Session Start Time - The date on which the Session was started
Session End Time - The date on which the Session was stopped
Device OS - If determined, the Operating System of the client’s device
AP IP Address - The IP Address address of the Access Point to which the client is associated
AP MAC - The MAC address of the Access Point to which the client is associated
AP Model - The model type of the Access Point (e.g., OAW-AP1221, OAW-AP1251, …)
AP Name - The name of the Access Point
AP Version - The Version set in the Edit Device page of the Access Point
Site Name - The Site Name
AP Location - The physical location of the Access Point connected to the client.
Portal Username - The username used to connect to the portal.
802.1X Username - The 802.1X username configured for the client, if applicable.
Auth Type - The authentication type used by the client (e.g., WPA2_WPA, PSK, …)
Band - The radio band through which the client attached to the AP (2.4GHz or 5GHz).
Channel - The working channel of the client
Live Time - Client idle time (ins).
Mode - The connection mode (802.11n (2.4G), 802.11n (5G), …)
RSSI - The Received Signal Strength Indicator of the client
Rx Total - The total number of bytes received by the client from the Access Point.
Tx Errors - The total number of errors sent by the client.
Phy Rx Rate - The physical receive rate of the client.
SNR - The Signal-to-Noise Ratio of the client.
Associated SSID - The WLAN to which the client is associated
Tx Total - The total number of bytes sent by the client to the Access Point.
Phy Tx Rate - The physical sending rate of the client.
Tx Packets - The total number of packets sent by the client to the Access Point.
Rx Packets - The total number of packets received by the client from the Access Point
BSSID - The BSSID is the MAC address of the Access Point (WAP).
VLAN - The VLAN through which the client accesses the network.
Tunnel ID - The VPN Tunnel through which the client accesses the network.
Far End IP - The IP address of the far-end tunnel termination.
Access Role Profile - The Access Role Profile applied to the client after authentication.
Sometimes, for short sessions (lasting less than 5 minutes), some information may be missing because it could not be determined.
Client Session Distribution and Client Session Trend
The Client Session Distribution and Client Session Trend sections contain widgets that provide additional details about the re-partition of Sessions based on the selected criteria.
The following criteria are available for each widget:
Auth Type - Number of sessions grouped by authentication type
Device OS - Number of sessions grouped by Device OS
Device Type - Number of sessions grouped by Device Type
AP Model - Number of sessions grouped by AP Model
AP Version - Number of sessions grouped by AP Version
Band - Number of sessions grouped by Band
Channel - Number of sessions grouped by Channel
Associated SSID - Number of sessions grouped by the associated SSID
VLAN - Number of sessions grouped by VLAN
Client Sessions data is retained for 365 days.
